Winter Solstice

Winter Solstice

The birthday of the Sun and of the year. We experience the greatest darkness, the hours of darkness are so much greater than the hours of daylight. And yet, it is within this time of greatest darkness that the Light of the World is reborn, for now the hours of daylight will begin to grow and the hours of darkness will lessen.

My husband was born on Dec 21. The darkest day... I always tell him he is the brightest spot on the darkest day... but I like your story too! =]

You have to see Darkness to enjoy the Light - as in
You have to feel sorrow to experience Happiness.
Have a Happy weekend Anna-Lys.

here in the north
this day marks the start
of our long climb back to light,
and the warmth of our summer solstice

but today, australia burns

It depends. The south polish people will experience the opposite. Goblins and penguins disagree on this point. "All is relative" as the profet said.

Hermeneutical greetings from

I imagine he is a very social and caring person that lights up any dull party. My little brother that are no longer with us, was born on a date close to Your husband, and he was a sunbeam, until he died at 15. My girlfriend since young age likewise, she still are the one at every gathering or party, that walks around with her drink talking to everyone, and makes sure no one is left alone ;-)
.

True, very true. I often think that people that are very whining and egoistic, when someone tells a sun shine story, has not experienced real misery, or lack the ability to take the "others" perspective. And vice versa, people that can see the light beyond almost every sorrow, must have been going through hell, themselves (as long as they are not superficial and false smiling persons, but, they are soon discovered in a mass :-)

Thank You, the things we pay tribute to, have a tendency to grow in front of our eyes. That is why I try to find (as this blogs under title says " ... treasure chests of guffaw and love in our darkest and deepest contexts of life".

Lovely description of our Northern part of the world ... and a knife sharp needed reminder of that there are parts of the world that suffer from to much light, no food, no water or in this times of climate changes, to much water. Thank You /t.! That was one of the reasons I needed to see the tiny, tiny light in the darkness. <3

Yes, everything is related to something else. Like I put forward in this post, and Imac strengthened ... without darkness, no light and white can not exist if there was no black, because we can't visualise or experience anything if it is not related to something, it would not make sense.

Spiral greetings ;-)

Aj, katten! ha ha ha
How much have they paid You? LOL

Welcome to my humble dwelling ;-)
I don't know any longer "what we are" or what we are becoming. I have meet enormous many bloggers that think that we earth people don't have any survival problems, even if they on the next post describes hurricanes, floods and climate changes in their own environment, they don't consider them as climate changes. To me the difference between weather change and climate change is that a climate is a contextual pattern over time, whilst weather is something that happens occasionally. I have witnesses several climate changes in my own environment that can be related to our way of living ...

Right now I am most puzzled over this:

When animals recognizes patterns in their environment that might lead to their extermination - they start to migrate, and find new places to live. Humans has done that since the very beginning, and we have walked long ways to find places to live on.

On many places on earth today there are no longer ways of survive and they need to move to greener places. We have stopped that natural way of surviving, we have borders, passports and thereby are we killing our own species ... yes, sometimes even I have problems with focusing on the "bright side of life".

Thank You!
I have lately discovered that "I had a dream", a dream that Internets distant communication would unite people, make them closer to each other, no matter ethics, sexes, colours, and nations etcetera. That we could share a mutual understanding and thereby go beyond politics, war and gatekeepers no matter how dark it looked through other media.
LOL I guess I still see some light and will not give up!

Dianne
Thank You, for Your patience with my clumsiness, if it is of any excuse, this post is not only close to the Winter Solstice, it is also I way to deal with Copenhagen COP15, to not give up, no matter how dark it looks, to gather strength in times of hoplessness. So, dear Dianne, this post is for You to!!! <3

Beautifully put forward. I am convinced that we need this dark side of life to contemplate and change, take new steps forward, a rebirth.

This is the first day of our new ways of living!

Lovely lesson, Ana-lys. I was thinking about you the other day after a friend told me there were no free spirits left in the world. So fortunate to have you as the exception.

Yeah, you know I'm a diver. When diving under the sea I think best.
Definitly people can't stay where they are. They should move but wehere. The problem seems to be that the tribes which once controlled a small town or area now controls large areas. Other people not legitamate buissiness are enimis. Its human nature to protect ourselfs. And millions of people from other countries (not western allies or neighoirs) will be considered enimies.
Sweden had a progrssive fugitive politics in the 90s and that caused huge upheavles in society. Many millions in the same time would not be accepted by the society. This problem increases if the people are "strnage".

On my side of the world, the height of summer. Flowers bloom, the sun smiles and pants are optional.

But in this time of Greatest Light, the shadows once again begin to creep...

Merry Christmas, miss!
